01/14 Reading - Thoughts & Comments DX3

Post by Admin on Mon Jan 14, 2013 8:00 am

14-Jan Genesis 27-28, Matthew 27-28, Psalms 66-70, Proverbs 14

Gen 27:41 (NIV) 41 Esau held a grudge against Jacob because of the blessing his father had given him. He said to himself, "The days of mourning for my father are near; then I will kill my brother Jacob."

Genesis 27 and 28 read like a disfunctional family soap opera.  WOW! Jacob is deceiving his father Isaac, who is so blind and old that he can't tell if the goat skin is his son or a goat.  Isaac pronounces his blessing on Jacob rather than Essau after Jacob's mom cooks him a delicious meal of goat. Essau is angry at Jacob for deceiving him twice.  Rebekah (Mom) wants Jacob to get married to a good woman from back home. Essau is so angry that he marries a Caananite woman out of rebellion, and he plans to kill Jacob.  Do you sense a little tension in the house?

Not knowing your true calling with God will throw an individual and the whole family into turmoil.  Jacob wanted to be #1 from the day of his birth, and he would stop at nothing to get it.  Essau didn't care, he just wanted to hunt and flex his great strength.  I don't see anywhere in the story where Isaac sat down with his sons and worked out the plan for their inheritance, and for a multi generational increase.  The boys were kind of left to themselves to figure out their own plan. Yet Isaac drew closer to Essau than to Jacob.  There was just something about that rough, red headed boy who smelled like fresh grass and sweat.  Isaac loved it.

It's so important that we don't leave our children to figure out their own path on their own.  It's almost impossible to re-invent the wheel over and over, and to actually accomplish anything in life past what Mom and Dad accomplished.  There are a few biblical principles to keep your family healthy, and to make sure that your children excelerate past you and your generation.  This is God's will.

1.  Never leave your children to themselves, but TRAIN THEM in the way they should go.

Prov 22:6 (KJV)6 Train up a child in the way he should go: and when he is old, he will not depart from it.

A child must be molded, formed, and conditioned.  They are an open book, ready to be written upon at an early age.  A child learns most of his character traits in the first few years of his life. But the more deeply seated issues of faith, belief, direction, character, love, loyalty, etc. are learned as a child grows through his/her teen years.  In the world today, we have been so conditioned to a destructive 2 parent working family.  We have handed our children over to the godless state to train them for nine hours per day. When we get home, we are so worn out that we don't have the strength or tenacity to do any more training or work.  So we feed the kids, and send them off to do their home work and then go to bed.

TRAIN UP A CHILD IN THE WAY!  This doesn't mean to take them to church on Sunday morning and hand them off to another entity to train them.  This means that we parents must get into our children's lives, find out from God where He is sending them, and begin to train them ourselves, or pay for the training necessary to get them in position for success in their calling.  It's up to the parent primarily to know our children and to know what they are good at, what they love to do, what direction they will take in the future, and what their weaknesses are.  It's up to us to take them through character training so they will know how to work for a boss, submit to authority, to successfully lead a family, to love with loyalty, to walk in faith and commitment to the Lord, and to know the Holy Bible as their number one source of wisdom.

2.  Take your children through the COMPASS GUIDE training program.  We are attempting to put a teen version together, and here are a few thoughts on how to lead your young one into a 25 word core vision statement and successful goals.
    a.  Take a child through training on how to set daily goals, weekly, monthly, and one year goals.  Show them how successful they can be while working a plan, rather than living like a sloth with no structure.
    b.  Teach your child in the eight territories of his/her life, and get them to memorize those areas so they know that there is more to life than just X-Box or the newest CD on the market.
    c.  Teach your child to vision cast way out into the future and talk about some realistic 5 year goals, with a solid focus on the 1 year goals.  Amazingly, if you stick to this, your children will see miraculous doors open as their goals begin to unfold into reality. God will get involved to help you with this training, and He will provide the supernatural open doors to make their goals become reality.  It will be a great walk of faith.
    d.  Teach your children about your family lines on both sides of Mom and Dad.  Tell them about family weaknesses, strengths, callings, and annointings that have come down through the family in generations past.  Show them how they must arm themselves against old family characteristics like criminal activity, alcoholism, drug addiction, promiscuity, having children out of wedlock, and the nitty gritty, good, bad, and ugly of the family.  They need to know what they are facing, so they don't feel all alone when their struggling with sin or old family lineage traits.  They will either get help and support from the parents, or they will sit alone in their room wondering why they are so different, ashamed to let anyone know of their weaknesses and temptations.  Mom and Dad - walk through this with them and be open, transparent, and honest with them.  They will thank you forever for this!
    e.  Help your children to see what you see in them.  Tell them repeatedly of the gifts and strengths that you see in them.  Don't force little Johnny to become a doctor because that's what you want him to be.  Find out through God's help, what little Johnny is called by God to do, and then bless him, train him, and pay for key instruction to make him better, faster, stronger, and more able than you ever were in your life time.
    f.  Lastly, make it an open goal to make your children go twice as far as you did.  In the case of Elijah and Elisha, Elijah performed 7 mighty miracles during his lifetime. But he trained Elisha correctly as a son.  Elisha thought the way Elijah thought. He saw what Elijah saw, and he walked the way his spiritual father walked.  Because of that, Elisha performed 14 major miracles during his lifetime, doubling the strength and power of his father's anointing.  Unfortunately Elisha never trained up a son who would take the anointing to 28 miracles.  Old Isaac had the same problem.  Abraham did mighty things, and Isaac did wild and mighty things as well.  Then Isaac didn't raise up his sons, but left them to themselves.  Total family meltdown and dis-function was a result.  THRUST YOUR CHILDREN INTO MASSIVE MULTIPLICATION and tell them that your goal is to see them and their children succeed.  Your job is to bless your grandchildren at the end of the day.  Don't make them servants in your kingdom - but look forward into the future and build that future into them!

You can do it.  Your children are like ARROWS IN YOUR QUIVER.  Blessed is the person who has arrows!  SHOOT YOUR ARROWS on purpose, on target, and with skill and precision!   king king  sunny
