05/14 Thoughts & Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves

Post by Admin on Fri May 02, 2014 7:38 am

14-May 2 Sam. 11-12, Rev. 19-20, Psalms 66-70, Proverbs 14

David's Pride Brought Increased Judgment Upon Him:
2 Samuel 12:10-14 (NIV) 10  Now, therefore, the sword will never depart from your house, because you despised me and took the wife of Uriah the Hittite to be your own.' 11  "This is what the LORD says: 'Out of your own household I am going to bring calamity upon you. Before your very eyes I will take your wives and give them to one who is close to you, and he will lie with your wives in broad daylight. 12  You did it in secret, but I will do this thing in broad daylight before all Israel.'" 13  Then David said to Nathan, "I have sinned against the LORD." Nathan replied, "The LORD has taken away your sin. You are not going to die. 14  But because by doing this you have made the enemies of the LORD show utter contempt, the son born to you will die."

King David commits a horrid sin where he sleeps with another man's wife, tries to cover it, and eventually has the husband killed in order to cover his sin.  The woman Bathsheba became pregnant and he did everything he could to try to cover his secret.  He greatly displeased the Lord when he had the husband murdered on the battle field.

Nathan the prophet came in to bring David to his knees before God, but David was still in the "seek cover and hide" mode.  This is a mentality of PRIDE when we are guilty of sin.  We humans are very good at pointing out someone else, holding our tongue, or refusing to break and confess our sin. And David did just that.  Nathan convicted him right before him of the sin of adultry and murder, yet David remained silent.  Nathan then began to issue judgment on David.  "The sword will never leave your house!"  David remained silent, more than likely trying to figure how he could duck, hide, and get out of this. What kind of story could he develop to hide a little further?  "Out of your very own house calamity will come."  David remains silent.  "A member of your own house will take your wives and sleep with them in broad daylight."  David finally breaks and says, I'M THE MAN! I HAVE SINNED AGAINST THE LORD!!"  These are the hardest words for the adamic nature to say to God.  Even Adam himself said, "It was the WOMAN whom YOU gave me!" He blamed his sin on Eve and God.  And in the same way, King David was shifting and trying to get out from under the harsh light of truth and judgment.  He finally broke, confessed, and fell on the rock as a broken man. He asked God for MERCY!

That was the right move to make, and at the right time!!  Why? Because Nathan was about to take the kingdom from David.  Nathan answered, "The Lord has taken away your sin. You are not going to die."  It's very possible that the next words out of Nathan's mouth were, "God is now going to kill you because of your stiff neck and your stubborn resistance against His voice."   Can you imagine how close David was to losing everything, dying before the Lord as a sinner, and breaking the very pattern that God has sent him to fulfill as the type and shadow king who would be the fore runner of the Lord Jesus Christ?  WOW.

David got into trouble when he stayed home and sent another man out to fight his battles for him.  If David would have been in position correctly, he never would have had time to sit around, see the woman bathing, and start fantasizing about her.  His place was on the battlefield, not at home watching porn.  It just about got him killed, and it DID get some Israelites and Bathsheba's husband killed.  And it DID get her son killed which David had impregnated her with.

When you are out of position, everything that you create and impregnate is potentially dead.  Being out of position will cause you to do things that you should never do and be in places and positions that you should never be in.  The fruits of your labor will die and trouble will come to your house.  Another will take your fruits and family members, and money and authority.  This is how the open door to the enemy comes.

COMPASS GUIDE will help to keep you on track, keep you focused on the dream of God in your life, and it will keep you where you belong.  If you are supposed to be in the battle, then COMPASS GUIDE will direct you to stay on the battle field until the wars are over.  If a Bathsheba moment comes to your life, your 25 word Core Vision Statement will scream out at you to stay on track, stay focused, and get out of the lazy road of complacency.  I highly encourage you to get a Compass Guide program going in your life today!
