07/31 Compass Guide Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves

31-Jul Job 5-6, 2 Cor. 3-4, Psalms 6-10, Proverbs 31

Job 5:17-27 (NIV) 17 "Blessed is the man whom God corrects; so do not despise the discipline of the Almighty.  18 For he wounds, but he also binds up; he injures, but his hands also heal. 19 From six calamities he will rescue you; in seven no harm will befall you. 20 In famine he will ransom you from death, and in battle from the stroke of the sword. 21 You will be protected from the lash of the tongue, and need not fear when destruction comes. 22 You will laugh at destruction and famine, and need not fear the beasts of the earth. 23 For you will have a covenant with the stones of the field, and the wild animals will be at peace with you. 24 You will know that your tent is secure; you will take stock of your property and find nothing missing. 25 You will know that your children will be many, and your descendants like the grass of the earth. 26 You will come to the grave in full vigor, like sheaves gathered in season. 27 "We have examined this, and it is true. So hear it and apply it to yourself."

There is a difference between being corrected by God and suffering destruction.  The man who is corrected by God, even though it may wound him, is a blessed man.  Those God corrects will never be destroyed.  But those who resist or refuse to be destroyed will be left to themselves, and most assuredly will suffer destruction.

God's correction is important because He is revealing and removing areas, thoughts, attitudes, and things from us which cannot co-exist in His Kingdom.  He helps us to prepare for a lifetime of Kingdom living, and sometimes that requires a Father's correction.  Scripture says that God only disciplines and corrects those He loves.  So if God has ever corrected you, then you can know and understand that He loves you and is preparing something for you from His eternal Kingdom.

A person who goes through the correction of God comes into position to be protected by God.  There is a secret place under the shadow of Almighty God where a person can rest under His wings of protection (Psalm 91).  But God doesn't let just anyone come up under His wings or in His shadow.  Only sons and daughters come into His shadow and under His wings!  And Job indicates that you will laugh at destruction or famine, and you will know that your house is secure, and that nothing will be missing at the end of the famine.   CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS FOR YOURSELF?

There is a serious famine coming upon planet earth which will not go away soon.  It began with a famine of the Word of the Lord, and this famine will continue to extend for a period of time, into the nations of the earth.  This famine will change everything including where people live, where they work, who they hang out with, and literally - who they will become.  Many will not survive the famine intact, and many will become impoverished.  Isaiah chapter 3 tells the story of any nation who departs from God and who no longer follows His ways.  But verse 10 says, "TELL MY PEOPLE THAT IT WILL BE WELL WITH THEM DURING THIS TIME, AND THAT I WILL BLESS THEM BECAUSE OF THEIR LOVE FOR ME".

You see, Job is saying the same thing.  Because you love God and you receive His correction, you are invited under His protection. He will guide you away from disaster. He will bless you during times of famine.  You will be different because you believe different, you act different, and you serve a different God than the others.  Therefore, their famine is not your famine, and their calamity is not yours.  You will not fear when destruction comes, because you know that it is NOT coming to your household, but to theirs.  Why?  Because you are proven sons and daughters of the Lord through the spirit and procedure of CORRECTION.

Never refuse the correction of the Lord, as it will lead, guide, and protect you from the coming days of destruction, famine, and trouble.  COMPASS GUIDE helps to keep you in the Word of God every day. It also helps you to focus on the dream of God so that you won't waste time or energy on nonsense that means nothing at the end of the day.  This filtering and focusing on God's dream IS correction, and it's discipline - or discipleship.  Get your Compass Guide today at .
