08/02 Compass Guide Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves

Post by Admin on Sat Aug 03, 2013 10:03 am

2-Aug Job 9-10, 2 Cor. 7-8, Psalms 16-20, Proverbs 2
Job 9:1-4 (NIV) 1 Then Job replied: 2 "Indeed, I know that this is true. But how can a mortal be righteous before God? 3 Though one wished to dispute with him, he could not answer him one time out of a thousand. 4 His wisdom is profound, his power is vast.  Who has resisted him and come out unscathed?

Job knew that he could not reason, contend, or argue with God and win.  He also knew that if he simply spoke, his mouth would condemn him.  He knew that he was mortal, and that God is eternal. There is no comparison.  The chapter goes on and indicates that no one who resists God will win or prosper.

James 4:6 (NIV) 6 . . .  That is why Scripture says: "God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."[3]

Those who walk in pride simply will not win. God gives no grace to the proud.  His grace is given to those who walk in humility.

Many people misunderstand the meaning of humble, or meek. Being humble doesn't mean that you're weak.  I tell young people to think of meakness and humility like this.
Have you ever seen two dogs fight? They size one another up, and then when they start barking, biting, and growling, one dog gives in and flips to his back asking for mercy.  The other dog could rip him to shreds, but understanding that the other dog has given up is usually enough for the "TOP DOG" or the "OVER-DOG" to stop fighting.

I have learned that meakness and humility doesn't mean that you give in to enemies, terrorists, bullies, or criminals.  It means that you give in to God immediately and every time.  When God shows up, there is never a fight, never a confrontation, and never resistance.  God is the overdog, and the top dog in the two dog encounter.  You are the one on your back begging for mercy!
Job knew that he could never resist God and get away with it.  We would do well to be the under dog in every situation concerning God and His will for our lives.  RESISTANCE IS FUTILE!
COMPASS GUIDE will help you to deal with pride and humility, and you will learn to walk humbly before your God day and night, while resisting the devil at all times!

James 4:6-10 (NIV)"God opposes the proud but gives grace to the humble."  7 Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil, and he will flee from you. 8 Come near to God and he will come near to you. Wash your hands, you sinners, and purify your hearts, you double-minded. 9 Grieve, mourn and wail. Change your laughter to mourning and your joy to gloom. 10 Humble yourselves before the Lord, and he will lift you up.
