07/05 Compass Guide Comments By Dr. Daniel Daves

5-Jul 2 Chron. 19-20, Acts 11-12, Psalms 26-30, Proverbs 5
2 Chron 20:2-4 (NIV) 2 Some men came and told Jehoshaphat, "A vast army is coming against you from Edom, from the other side of the Sea. It is already in Hazazon Tamar" (that is, En Gedi). 3 Alarmed, Jehoshaphat resolved to inquire of the Lord, and he proclaimed a fast for all Judah. 4 The people of Judah came together to seek help from the Lord; indeed, they came from every town in Judah to seek him.
Today we continue in the theme of yesterday, where King Jehoshaphat came under attack.  He immediately called a fast and the nation began seeking the Lord.  They fell under God's mighty arm of authority, and they committed to endure whatever God wanted.  They were under His care and command.  God answered and completely destroyed Jehoshephat's enemies.
Today we need to absolutely remember that enemy attacks can and will come.  And many of these attacks will come as a result of something that we're doing outside of God's kingdom plan or will for our lives.
Many things can give Satan the right to attack our lives including sin, heading the wrong direction, touching things that we have no business touching, giving in to temptation, walking through doors without first inquiring of God, etc.  Before we stand up proudly and arrogantly and tell the attacking devil to "BRING IT!", we had better make sure that we didn't do something that gave him authority over our lives.  If we invoked the attack of Satan, God will not defend us until we learn what we did wrong, repent, and close the door.  It would certainly be better to learn the lesson before the devil is on top of us, beating us into the ground.
In this story, Jehoshephat inquired of God if they had done anything wrong, and he placed his nation under God's mighty hand.  God responded to them through a prophetic word that they were in good hands, and that God Himself would destroy these enemies.  Jehoshephat would need to march out and make a stand, but God would route the enemy before his eyes, without Jehoshephat having to lift a finger.  ONLY STAND!
We can learn a powerful lesson today through this great king.  He had his faults and hangups, but he was quick to repent and fall before the Lord whenever trouble rose up.  For this, God gave him great success and God stood with him against any enemy attack.  If we will live the same way, the results will be exactly the same! This is an inheritance right of sons/daughters/kings/priests of almighty God through the Lord Jesus Christ!  king king king
