03/28 Reading - Thoughts & Comments

Post by Admin on Wed Apr 03, 2013 8:06 am

28-Mar Deut. 27-28 Ephesians 3-4 Psalms 131-135 Proverbs 28

Deut 28:1-2 (NIV) 1 If you fully obey the Lord your God and carefully follow all his commands I give you today, the Lord your God will set you high above all the nations on earth. 2 All these blessings will come upon you and accompany you if you obey the Lord your God:

This is one of the greatest chapters in the bible, and I look forward to it every year, like a child walking towards a candy store!  God lays out every conceivable blessing that belongs to you and I with one profoundly simple requirement: Obedience.

So many people struggle with obedience to the kingdom of God, yet most struggling is unnecessary.  I hope to bring some relief today in this writing.

Every structure has a governing demand of obedience.  If you live in Texas, you must live by Texas laws, or you get a ticket, pay a fine, or go to jail.  If you live in the USA, there are a set of rules in that land which govern our movements.  If you live on planet earth, you must live by the laws of this planet or you will be fined. Laws such as the law of gravity, aerodynamics, etc. will bless or curse you depending on your obedience to them.

If you live in the kingdom of God, you must adhere to the laws of that kingdom if you want to enjoy the benefits.  The benefits are so numerous that it's hard to NOT want to live in this kingdom.  Eternal life, a close Heavenly Father, angelic protection, blessings and benefits, supernatural increase, gifts and surprises, supernatural authority over darkness and demons, the ability to speak things into existence, special abilities to bless others and care for the poor just as God does - these are all kingdom benefits.  And there are so many more!

The command of obedience is no different than any other land, nation, or kingdom.  Don't break the laws of the kingdom!  Let's discuss breaking of the laws.

If you are pressing into God's kingdom, learning how to operate and function in that kingdom, and seeking His kingdom first in your life, you will find it, learn it, and you will be led by the Holy Spirit into obedience in God's kingdom.  You might blow it from time to time.  You may sin and violate a kingdom principle.  There is forgiveness, mercy, and reconciliation/restoration available to you in the kingdom of God.  Be rest assured, God wants to keep you in the kingdom and to teach you from your mistakes.

However, if you want to come into God's kingdom, and if you choose to LIVE LIKE THIS, bringing a lifestyle of sin, degradation, and worldliness into the kingdom of God, you will not be able to stay.  Obedience to the kingdom rules and laws is a prerequisite of living in the kingdom.  But bringing a lifestyle of death into the kingdom nullifies you from all of it's benefits.

Gal 5:19-21 (NIV) 19 The acts of the sinful nature are obvious: sexual immorality, impurity and debauchery; 20 idolatry and witchcraft; hatred, discord, jealousy, fits of rage, selfish ambition, dissensions, factions 21 and envy; drunkenness, orgies, and the like. I warn you, as I did before, that those who live like this will not inherit the kingdom of God.

So the keys is "THOSE WHW LIVE LIKE THIS..."  Blowing it and repenting, turning back to God and asking forgiveness is a kingdom benefit.

Heb 4:14-16 (NIV) 14 Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. 15 For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin. 16 Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.

However, under a false pretense, many so called "Christians" who do not follow Christ, attempt to enter into the kingdom of God by accepting Jesus as their savior.  But they don't change their lifestyle.  They don't seek the kingdom of God, and they disqualify themselves from any kingdom inheritance by continuing to "LIVE LIKE THIS" and being given to their sinful nature as a lifestyle.

Matt 22:11-14 (NIV) 11 "But when the king came in to see the guests, he noticed a man there who was not wearing wedding clothes. 12 'Friend,' he asked, 'how did you get in here without wedding clothes?' The man was speechless. 13 "Then the king told the attendants, 'Tie him hand and foot, and throw him outside, into the darkness, where there will be weeping and gnashing of teeth.' 14 "For many are invited, but few are chosen."

We are living in a very confusing day where many so called "Christians" live among us, not following Christ.  They are not living in God's kingdom, yet they seem to have an understanding about God, His kingdom, and how that kingdom functions.  They look like godly people in many ways, but there is something missing:

2 Tim 3:1-5 (NIV) 1 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God-- 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with them.

We are living in the last days, and there are many around us who "have a form of godliness but deny it's power".  Their denial of power is clear because they don't live in the kingdom.  They have denied or said no to "OBEDIENCE" to the kingdom's laws and ordinances.  They will not inherit the kingdom.  Furthermore, the scripture says to stay away from them.

This is a day to not just be a Christian, but to be a FOLLOWER OF CHRIST.  If you will follow Him, you will will enter His kingdom.  You will live with Him.  You will obey Him.  And you will inherit all of his kingdom benefits listed in Deuteronomy 28.  Will you make a mistake? Yes absolutely.  Will you be forgiven, restored, and encouraged. Absolutely.  Will you see anyone in the kingdom of God who "LIVES LIKE THIS" and "DENYING THE POWER"?  No you will not.

Focus today on your lifestyle and ask God what needs to change so that you can enter bodly into the kingdom and it's benefits.  Commit to a lifestyle of obedience to God, and then allow the powerful Holy Spirit to immerse and baptize you into His power.  His power will lead, guide, and strengthen you to walk in obedience.

Christ resurrected and lives in your heart in order to give you a brand new life.  This life is free to serve and live in the kingdom of God.  "LIVE LIKE THIS" is the old, dead life that has been done away with by the blood of Christ.  But the life of God in Christ is brand new, and you are new.  You are not bound to death, but are made free.

2 Cor 5:17 (NIV) 17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come!

The blessings of Deut. 28 are a prerequisite for a COMPASS GUIDE student to reach all three dimensions of life (NEED, DESIRE, DREAM).  Dream land is your land of promise, and that land will only be inherited by obeying the kingdom commands of your God, and living daily in His kingdom.  This is a foundational law for any follower of Christ who plans to inherit the land of promise.   king king  king
